EPA Opens Grant Funding for Rural Community Water Management

The funding is to provide training and technical assistance for small water systems and private wells.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced $30 million in grant funding through its Real Water Technical Assistance (RealWaterTA) initiative to support technical assistance and training for small drinking water and wastewater systems, along with private well owners. The program is intended to help communities improve water quality, maintain infrastructure, and strengthen compliance with federal drinking water standards.

“Rural communities are the backbone of this country, and… we must do everything we can to ensure that they can continue to have access to clean and safe water,“ said EPA Assistant Administrator for Water Jess Kramer. “EPA is investing $30 million from the RealWaterTA initiative to provide resources to small and rural communities who are working to fulfill critical water infrastructure needs to protect human health and the environment.”

The agency expects to award up to five grants to eligible nonprofits, colleges, universities, and public institutions. Funding can be used for engineering support, operational planning, financial management, workforce training, wastewater system assistance, and private well water improvements. Applications will be accepted through Grants.gov for 30 days.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Assistant Administrator Kramer as she oversees efforts to support community technical assistance and training for water management.
  • For Administrator Zeldin and EPA officials as they seek to ensure safe drinking water across the nation.
  • For the mayors and council members of rural towns, the heads of small utilities, and private well owners to access the support for infrastructure improvements.
